Athens at a Glance

Top Rated Athens Private Tour

Tour Athens in a day? It sounds impossible – but with Athens Taxitour 360 ̊ you really can explore all of Athens in a single day.

Your Athens private tour begins at your hotel, villa or cruise ship, where our licensed English-speaking driver will welcome you to your luxury taxi with free wifi and free iced water. Your day tour of Athens begins at the Acropolis, the famous ancient citadel which not only gives the best views over the city of Athens, but immerses you in the history of Greece through the Parthenon temple, the temple of Athena Nike (the goddess the brand is named for), the Propylaea (a beautiful gateway)  and the Erechtheion, another ancient temple.

Gazing out from the Acropolis, your expert driver will point out the Theatre of Dionysus and the Odeon of Herodes Atticus – two sites where Western theatre had its beginnings. You’ll be able to visualise the lives of ancient Greeks who streamed to both theatres to enjoy music, plays and performances to honour the Gods.  The Odeon has a modern history too: Maria Callas, Frank Sinatra and Sting have all performed there.

You’ll travel in comfort to the Temple of Olympian Zeus, one of the largest in antiquity and Hadrian’s Arch, which is the symbolic entrance to the ancient city. After a pause for photographs the Athen’s city tour moves on to the Panathenaic Stadium, also called the Kallimarmaro, which is one of the most famous Athens attractions – it’s the only stadium in the world built entirely of marble, it’s the home of the original Olympic games, and it’s the place from which the Olympic flame sets out to each host country every four years.

Then it’s off to Mount Lycabettus, soaring above the city and accessed by funicular railway, from which the whole of Athens spreads out at your feet.

After Lycabettus, you’ll sweep past the Presidential Mansion and the green oasis of the Zappeion Hall, past the Syntagma Square, home to the Greek Parliament with its famous presidential Guard, and then a pause to visit the Numismatic Museum with its world-class collection of coins.

Close to the Numismatic Museum you can sightsee the Old Parliament, the Athens Academy and University buildings and the impressive neoclassical National Library. You might think that’s enough, but we’re five star rated on TripAdvisor for a reason, we offer more than any other Athen’s sightseeing tour.

Your luxury tour continues with the Agora, where the art of rhetoric was developed, and a chance to explore the Temple of Hephaestus, the Stoa of Attalos, the Roman Agora, the Tower of the Winds  and Hadrian’s library.

Lunch is next, and you’ll be taken to a typical Greek restaurant, to eat as the Greeks do. We pick the best traditional cuisine to give you a real taste of Athens. After lunch you get to choose between the National Archeological Museum or the contemporary Acropolis Museum, a soaring modern masterpiece housing over 4000 artefacts from the Acropolis itself.

Finally one more decision – drive home in air-conditioned luxury or a final visit to Plaka: one of the oldest neighbourhoods in Athens, nestling in the shade of the Acropolis and, because it is largely pedestrianised, a perfect place for shopping and snapping photos. It makes the ideal conclusion to your day tour of Athens.
